Starting solids: Navigating the advice
This is a huge topic so I will do my best to keep it short and simple but informative. I enjoyed a long lecture on this topic in the last year of my Nutrition degree and at the time, it all seemed pretty straightforward. Putting it into practice however is a whole different ball game, one that is further complicated by conflicting advice from health professionals, family, friends and the media. The ensuing confusion is why introducing a baby to solids has become a major topic of conversation in my mothers group. This is not a guide on how to start solids, rather an attempt to make sense of the advice we are given.
